Top 5 Wednesday: Books To Finally Read In 2017

I think this post was made for me considering I have books that have been sitting on my shelves for like 10 years. When I was moving out a couple months ago, my mom literallly found a bag of books buried in the basement that I had bought between the ages of about 13-16. I’m currently 23. I mean none of those are on this list because I’m not too interested in reading sale books that I got at age 15, I will read them eventually though, probably for the laughs. Still, these are 5 of the books that I’ve been meaning to read for a year or 2 or 4, and I’m really interested in getting to them!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone
by Laini Taylor
I’ve wanted to read this series for so long and I finally got it for Christmas last year. I fully intended to read it as soon as possible, but we all know how that goes. With the release of her newest book, Strange the Dreamer, approaching and all the hype that’s surrounding it I think I’m finally going to get to this one. I’ve heard so many good things about this book, without actually knowing what it’s about, which is kind of awesome. I’m hoping that I love this as much as I think I will and I can just read the entire series in one go.

Famous Last Words
by Katie Alender
Another one I’ve had for quite a while, and one that’s been on many a TBR. I really enjoy her writing, Bad Girls Don’t Die was such a good book and is another series that I need to finish. I also loved her other books that I’ve read, Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer and The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall are so much fun to read. They’re a bit ridiculous but they also have that awesome combo of fun and creepy that I loveeee to read. I think that Famous Last Words will be in that same category and it’s a really short read so I may as well just get to it so that I can stop putting in on all my TBR’s.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
I bought this one so long ago, basically the second is was out in paperback because the hype surrounding it was so intense I knew I needed to read it. It sounds like such a good book, and a book that I will absolutely love, so I don’t know why I haven’t gotten to it yet. Everytime I think of it I think of the Cirque du Freak series because of this appearing circus thing, but I imagine it’s an entirely different thing. (That was sarcasm but I know sarcasm doesn’t translate in text, just wanted to point out that I’m not actually dumb okay great thanks) I’ve heard so many good things about this and read so many great reviews so I should just get to it.

Amelia Anne is Dead and Gone by Kat Rosenfield
I actually started this book while I was away at college, so 2013 I think, but was in a serious reading slump so I didn’t get very far into it. I’ve been meaning to get back to it since then but it’s just never happened. I love the cover and the story sounds fascinating and heartbreaking so I really need to make this a priority. Hopefully I get to it before spring.

The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
And here we have the book that I need to read the most. I’ve talked about this one a few times, mostly about why I haven’t read it yet. But I need to stop with the excuses. I adored the first 2 books and I know that I’ll love this one, also I really want to know what happens. No more being scared of the emotional trauma, if I could get through Empire of Storms I can get through this. (Okay maybe not, these books are so intense it’s a lot for me to handle) I will read it in 2017 though! I promise!
