So we’re just gonna ignore all my talk about how much I dislike TBR’s and go with this post because I want to? And because sometimes some vague goals are sometimes nice. This is gonna be a pretty straightforward post, I’ve got a list of 10 books that I want to (try) and read in 2019, plus one series that I really want to get to and then just a couple general goals for my reading for the year. I’ve got another post scheduled for today that talks about one of my other goals for 2019 but we’ll talk about that later!
So first things first we’ll just list the 10 books that I really want to read in 2019, I own a few of these already but most are ones I need to pick up. I considered just picking books that I’ve had on my shelves for a long time but that seems like I was setting myself up to fail so instead I went for books that I just really want to read and I think that picking ones that I’d need to buy will make me more likely to actually read them right away? Fingers crossed at least!
So here’s the list!
ONE /// All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
TWO /// Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch
THREE /// The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
FOUR /// The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
FIVE /// Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
SIX /// The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
SEVEN /// Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
EIGHT /// Blanca & Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore
NINE /// The Falconer by Elizabeth May
TEN /// Save the Date by Morgan Matson
So other than those 10 books I also want to finish the entire Maid of Honor Series by Jennifer McGowan. I’ve had all of these books for a decent amount of time and I really do think that I’ll love them because hello historical fiction and spies and political intrigue. I think that 2019 is finally the year to read this series.
Lastly I just have a couple other goals that I want to try and focus on in the next year. The first is that I want to focus on my backlist TBR. This one is kind of cheating since I don’t really have the funds to buy a ton of new releases and I don’t have a library card (maybe another goal should be to actually get a library card?) so I know that I’ll keep working away at my already owned TBR. I also want to try and read more ebooks since I have so many but I’m just really bad at reading them since I don’t always like reading on my phone. I’ve got so many good books on Kindle though so I need to get into it! The last goal is the one that I’ve got an entire post about and that’s to try and finish up as many already started series as possible. I’m awful at not reading the last books in series so the goal is to try and do better and knock a bunch of those out.
So there it is! I don’t think that I’m going to focus on a specific amount of books I want to read and just try and read stuff that I think I’ll like and really finish those series. I’m feeling pretty confident about all of these goals so I think that it’s going to be a good reading year. Let me know if you’ve got a set 2019 TBR or if there’s any specific goals you want to try and accomplish next year!
