“After an injury ends Travis Ford’s major league baseball career, he returns home to start over. He just wants to hammer out his frustrations at his new construction gig and forget all about his glory days. But he can’t even walk through town without someone recapping his greatest hits. Or making a joke about his… bat. And then there’s Georgie, his buddy’s little sister, who is definitely not a kid anymore.

Georgette Castle has crushed on her older brother’s best friend for years. The grumpy, bear of a man working for her family’s house flipping business is a far cry from the charming sports star she used to know. But a moody scowl doesn’t scare her and Georgie’s determined to show Travis he’s more than a pretty face and a batting average, even if it means putting her feelings aside to be “just friends.”

Travis wants to brood in peace. But the girl he used to tease is now a funny, full-of-life woman who makes him feel whole again. And he wants her. So damn bad. Except Georgie’s off limits and he knows he can’t give her what she deserves. But she’s becoming the air he breathes and Travis can’t stay away, no matter how hard he tries…”

I will fully admit that I went into this one with fairly low expectations, but what I got was so much more. I was honestly just looking for something cute and fluffy to breeze through to maybe get me out of the mini slump I was in. But damn. This book is adorable, but it’s also funny and meaningful and pretty damn explicit at times. But it’s so soso good and sosooso fun.

I think at this point my love of fake dating is well documented. It’s my number one favourite trope and I will read it in any form that I can get it, and this is probably the best fake dating that I’ve ever read. The stakes in this story just felt so much higher than in other romances that I’ve read in the past couple years and it made the story that much more compelling.

The characters are really what make the story though, Travis is a loveable asshole that you can’t help but root for and Georgie is literally the most genuine and fun main character I’ve read in a long time. Watching their relationship grow was so much fun and it felt really natural. It was just adorable. And funny, like I laughed out loud several times. The banter is just too good! And the romance is so sweet! And the sex scenes are very graphic but they work really well in the story! I don’t know, I just loved it all!

This book was just a roller coaster ride of emotions and I loved every second of it. I was reading it on my breaks at work and would walk back in smiling like an idiot because reading this just made me so happy. The ending is pretty cheesy but it just makes you feel good so I can’t even complain. Definitely one of the best things I’ve read all year and definitely something that I’ll be rereading when I need a pick me up because holy hell it was so good.

Just read it if you like cute and steamy romances with loveable characters. Just do it.
