So it’s been a while since I’ve actually gone through my shelves and unhauled my books, but since I’ve bought a decent amount of books lately and I’m very quickly running out of room I knew it was finally time to go through and get rid of a few. They’re mostly books that I’ve had hanging around for a while and I just finally accepted that I’m never actually going to read them.
The first two are books that I’ve read and just…didn’t like. I only made it like 40 pages into Dear Reader by Mary O’Connell and I absolutely hated it. I have no idea why I decided to put it back on my shelves since the sight of it makes me angry, but oh well, it’s going now! I also have The Land of 10, 000 Madonnas by Kate Hattemer. I did read all of this one and even though I didn’t hate it, I didn’t really like it. I really just kept it because the spine is green and I thought that I needed to keep it for my rainbow shelves. Which is dumb because I have so many green books. Ah well.
The next one is Love By The Morning Star by Laura L. Sullivan and I’ve tried to read this one a couple times since it’s not too long, but I don’t like the writing and the concept itself is kinda bleh to me so I’m just giving up. Then I have one that I’ve almost unhauled a few times but then kept, I’m just not going to read it though, and that’s Mortal Danger by Ann Aguirre. It sounds like something that I’d like and if it was a standalone I’d definitely read it, but I’m just not into starting a new series that I only think I’ll like and not love. Then we have Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes. I’ve held onto this one for a couple years but I’ve just never felt any desire to pick it up and I’ve heard that it falls apart a bit as the books go on. There’s also just other already released fantasy series that I’m more interested in trying so it can go. Then we have The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead. I really don’t know why I bought this one, but I do know that I’ve only kept it because I like the cover. It can go though because I don’t care!
And the last, and biggest, section of this unhaul is contemporary books that I know I’m not going to read. I bought most of these a few years ago when I was sucked into the hype of buying all the books that bookstagram was into even though I don’t really like contemporary books, and they’ve never been touched so it’s time to let them go. I’m sure that these are all good books, and I have nothing against any of them, but I’m never going to read them so I’d rather donate them and let someone else enjoy them. We have The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord, Romeo and What’s Her Name by Shani Petroff, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz, If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo, Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum, Little Black Dresses, Little White Lies by Laura Stampler and finally Second Chance Summer and Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson.
So there we have it! By the time this post goes live I will have set up my newest bookcase and if I don’t have room on that one I just might be a bit more cutthroat and get rid of even more. I’m feeling pretty good about finally getting rid of these and freeing up some space though so I’ll take it!
